PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The design aims to marry Scandinavian and local architecture within an overarching environmentally sustainable objective.
This off the grid project uses Autoclaved Aerated Concrete, also known as AAC, a lightweight, high-insulating and durable brick alternate; PV electricity production and Green Architecture principles.
The approach was to develop a highly insulated building that challenged the “brick and mortar” construction typical to South African houses. This design underwent an extensive computer modeling process to optimize the thermal performance of the design.
